How to deploy GFS on Cluster in a box?

This is my class project where I choose a topic of Global File System. Where the implementation is on virtual machine, Cluster in a box.

These are the steps:-

Set up cluster environment.
Configuration of Vmware to create clustered environment ( Cluster in the box).
Installation of Centos.
Configure RedHat Cluster Suite 5.
Set up Logical Volume using Cluster Logical Volume Manager.
Deploy GFS clusterally.

Second project of INTEG, we build a program of delivering news through speech and the interaction with computer using speech recognition and synthesizer.

We can get better than bronze for this project because the idea of Dr Teddy is very good. The only weaknesses is the development of prototype. I need more focus in programming on this one.

The first project in ITEG, we build indoor user location based on wifi signals. The development of prototype is around 2 month. The effort paid by winning the silver medal.

28th APAN meeting

Just a week I recieved student registration mail for 28th APAN meeting. The upcoming 28^th APAN Meeting from the 20^th – 23^rd July 2009 will be held in Berjaya Times Square Hotel and MOHE (Ministry of Higher Education) will be sponsoring 50 IPTA / Malaysian Public University students.

WHAT is APAN meeting?

This event will highlight tutorials, oral presentations and demonstrations covering advanced network technologies and applications. There will be plenty of opportunity to interact with researchers and practitioners from Asia Pacific and beyond during this meeting. APAN 28′s four-days program also demonstrates case studies of advanced networking in areas such as:

The winners

When I was in the competition…

The competition is held in Malaysia UITM shah alam.. Its a programming competition like Al-Khawarizmi and ACM.

It just that the question is a little bit easier because it is regional level.

Our university sent 2 group one of it is our group..

We won the first prize and alhamdulilah we answer all 7 question.

It was very nice since our last submitted question was in the last second of time…

the second place got 4 question question if Im not mistaken…

and we won a laptop.. Lenovo Thinkpad plus some money…

It was in 2008 competition..

Environment Intelligence..

I’m very lucky to be called to Dr. Teddy’s room last 2 weeks… He invites me to join his team in developing an Environment Intelligence program for research..

The research is very interesting in which we consider the environment as an object.. it result to be two object instead of one…

1. people.
2. environment.

Both have the same attribute, go for the senses first..
-eye (look)
-ear (listen)
-mouth (talk)

all of these attributes will be given to the environment so that the environment can talk and respond to people….

Interesting huh? Yes it is..! Thats why I said Im lucky…

Ibmjs finished

I finished the Ibmjs project 3weeks ago… just that Im quiet busy for my final exam and holiday.. now Im back to continue… the solution for Ibmjs it the engine… we got newer VIAVOICE trial version… it was VIAVOICE DICTATION.. install it and all the problem is gone… Im happy and plus not happy..

Happy because it works…
Not happy because I didnt solve anything…..

We do some GUI for that project… and we got quite good mark for that.. and finally I got A in my Java Course… Thanx to dr. Teddy for his great guidance…. Im planning to upload some picture for the project…. maybe later on I will upload it…

The clue for via voice..

Maybe Im a looser who just cant solve a simple thing.
This morning, I just decided not to search for the solution anymore…
but when I attend Dr Teddy’s network programming class, I start to think twice.
He gave me the clue for solution and it makes me encouraged to search more.

I did more searching with the clue word. but, still no answer.

the clues are:-

- Sometimes, via voice is locked in some computer. Thus, we have to unlock it from the registry.BUT HOW?… where is the sign of locked engine? ….
- There are some folders we need to copy to some directory to make it run. May be this one had been done.. or.. hmm.. I dunno…
- The network card… It has to be physically full duplex. Some of recent labtop is build in with not full duplex. It is only full duplex by logical.

Andd all of these, I have no idea how to solve…
Im running out of time… its only 3 weeks more.. there are several other projects need to be done. and not yet started.. this project pending everything……

May Allah makes everything easy for me… amin…

Computer Forensics is easy.

Its actually very easy to identify the file type. just by looking at its extensions.
for example= myfile.doc is a document file. and another example = myfile.jpg is a picture file.

BUT, it is also very easy to confuse a newbie by only changing the extention. let say , myfile.doc is changed to myfile.jpg. Then people can get confuse with it. This technique might seems to be nothing for some people, but it is vital for people of computer forensics.. Since we cant just rely on the extension, we can actually check the content of the file.. how? by checking its hexadecimal value. Is it that easy? YES!.. … download free hex viewer from google, check the file by using it..

First you must understand the structure of files. the first two offset is actually representing the type of the file. for example, image file, its first two offset is always FF D8. If you change this, the image file will not be able to be read.

Playing around with hexadecimal value can be disaster if we dont know what we are doing. (Always make a backup of a file if you dont want to lose it)

Hexadecimal value of a file is very interesting topic. It is where the focus of computer forensics people. We can even manipulate the hex value and store some data inside the file. (This is what they call as stenography) But make sure that you dont change the header and metadata. it is important for a data to be valid.

Thats all .. as easy as ABC..
